The steel coil is a product of rolling and winding a piece of steel strip or steel sheet. The width of a steel coil is larger compared to its thickness. The method of producing steel coil is based on how it should be classified, whether as a cold-rolled, galvanized or hot rolled steel coil.

Galvanized refers to a surface treatment technology that coats a layer of zinc on the surface of metals, alloys or other materials for aesthetics and rust prevention. The main methods used are hot-dip galvanizing and electro-galvanizing. It prevents corrosion of steel, and its protective performance is closely related to the thickness of the coating.

Cold-rolled coils are a steel product produced by applying plastic deformation to hot-rolled steel on cold-rolling mills. Cold rolling is also used to make thinner coils than hot-rolling mills can currently produce (less than 0.8-1.0 mm).

Cold rolled steel coil is rolled at room temperature and then rolled again below its recrystallization temperature. This process enables better control over finished product shape, thickness, dimensions, and a more consistent finish.

Cold-rolled sheet in coil form is produced by removing rust from hot-rolled sheet by “pickling” it in a weak acid solution, then washing, brushing, drying, oiling and unrolling the sheet and finally performing cold-rolling by passing the sheet through a reducing mill under pressure and winding it into a roll.

Cold rolled coil could supply better control of thickness, shape, width, surface finish, and other special quality features that compliment the emerging need for highly engineered end uses. Take construction projets for example: steel sheds, industrial buildings, and garages.
